Sisters, affiliates and partners in mission gathered to reflect, discuss, dream, organize, bond, learn and act.
In addition to celebrating the Feast of St. Francis together, we engaged in the FSPA Provocative Movements,
the FSPA mission direction declared during the 2022 Mission Assembly.
Part 1
The Building Block that was Rejected Has Become the Chief Cornerstone: the Central Role of Composting in moving toward Integral Agro-Ecology (0:00-1:15)
Rust Belt Riders Composting works to help others see, and make use of the value of rejected food, while working to mutually lift its employees up as a worker owned cooperative. Rust Belt Riders Composting Director of Soil, Nathan Rutz, shared the journey of RBR as a business and how it fundamentally comports with Pope Francis’s invitation to all people to care for our common home.

Cultivating Resilient Communities: Embracing Generative Conflict & Prioritizing Healing (1:15-2:38)

In this workshop, participants dove into the complexities of navigating conflict, the practice of building resilience when holding tension, and the need for deeper healing and communal care, especially amidst an increasingly polarized sociopolitical landscape.

FSPA & St. Mary's Boarding School (2:38-4:15)
The FSPA Truth and Healing Team and the La Crosse Public Library Archives shared the new podcast produced to tell the story of the Native American boarding school era and FSPA’s administration of St. Mary’s boarding school in Odanah, Wisconsin, from 1883-1969.
The FSPA land history (4:15-5:24)
FSPA is part of the Land Justice Futures program and through that we are understanding whose land we are on. Each day, our lives intersect with centuries.

Engaging the Unhoused (2:47-3:47)
Learn from the inspiring story and practical outreach methods of Melissa Hernandez, who directs the Puerto Rico Project serving unhoused people in Chicago, Illinois, and as a FSPA ministry grant partner.
Reflections on the Doctrine of Discovery (3:47-5:09)
In the Spring of 2024 the FSPA Office of Integral Ecology offered a Just Faith Ministries program entitled "The Land is Not Empty”. The participants were FSPA members, affiliates and partners in ministry. The program provided excellent information on the history of the Doctrine of Discovery and the impact of this doctrine on indigenous people in North America and other countries. Affiliates Joe and Barb Kruse share this experience.
