The United States 2024 Presidential election is just a few months away, scheduled for November 5, 2024. It is difficult to avoid discussing this election, yet it can often lead to disagreements since people have already formed their own opinions. It is important to be mindful of maintaining respectful conversions when discussing politics.
To address this, the Franciscan Spirituality Center is hosting an event titled, “Respectful Conversations: Keeping Election Talks Peaceful (in-person).” This event will be moderated by Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Sarah Hennessey and will feature five panelists: Richard Kyte, Jennifer Shilling, Walfsty Pierre, Barb Kruse and Michael Weldon, OFM.
During this event, topics will include strategies for facilitating respectful political discussions, methods for having informed and fact-based conversations, the impact of social media on election discussions and ways to engage diverse communities in meaningful dialogue.
The event will take place on Wednesday, October 23, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Register before October 21.
