The JPIC gathered 26 stories featuring one from each continent.
The Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration were chosen to represent North America. FSPA Integral Ecology Director Beth Piggush shared the history of Villa St. Joseph, land bought in 1895 to supply food for the St. Rose Convent and a new hospital, St. Francis Hospital. The FSPA’s dedication to caring for creation has guided their efforts to understand and preserve the land. This initiative extends its impact globally, as the land symbolizes God’s creation. Guided by respect for the Earth, ecological integrity, ecojustice and the integration of life. The sisters teach sustainable farming practices, offer land for community gardening and advocate for environmental justice. Their work, reflecting Laudato Si’ and Franciscan values, promotes conservation, regeneration, equity and spiritual healing.
