At the age of 87 and in her sixty-fifth year of her religious profession, Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Fran Morrissey died on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, at St. Rose Convent in La Crosse, Wisconsin. One of nine children in the Morrissey family, Sister Fran made her first profession of vowss on Aug. 12, 1959. She began serving as a Catholic sister in homemaking, ministering for 25 years in convents in Iowa and Wisconsin, at times teaching music and serving as a school librarian; participated inthe spiritual renewal program, CREDO; ministered as a seamstress and driver at Villa St. Joseph for 25 years; and, upon retirement, volunteered, sewed items for the St. Rose gift shop and prayed. Sister Fran will be remembered for her smile as big as her heart, her practical jokes, her willingness to provide aid and her love of a good party or crafting activity.
