At the age of 95 and in her seventy-fourth year of her religious profession, Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Rosalia Bauer died on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, at St. Rose Convent in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Sister Rosalia realized her childhood dream of serving in health care as a nurse and went on to minister internationally as such in nine states and in Thailand; in large and small hospitals, nursing homes, university clinics, county clinics and public health centers. She also ministered to people in their homes as well as a migrant camp in Virginia and refugee camp in Thailand. She saw nursing as “a doorknob allowing entrance into people’s homes and hearts” where she found deep appreciation of cultural differences, the miracles of medicine and the resilience of people. Sister Rosalia will be remembered as a great storyteller with determination and love of life. To read more about Sister Rosalia’s life and ministry, visit FSPA Obituaries.
