Silent City: Franciscan Sisters 175 Years of Community

On Saturday, Sept. 21, the La Crosse Catholic Cemetery hosted Discover the Silent City: Franciscan Sisters 175 Years of Community cemetery tour. Silent City is a guided walking tour through the La Crosse Catholic Cemetery featuring theatrical performances about the history and community impact of FSPA. Tours were every 15 minutes and lasted approximately 90 minutes.

"It's a different way for people to connect with history in their community maybe people aren't as interested in going to a museum to see history or reading about it but here they get to experience it and see it in person," shares Amy Vach, La Crosse County Historical Society Curator.

Diane Foust who played Mother Antonia Herb shares, “The Franciscan Sisters are such an important part [of] this area and is the reason I’m still living in La Crosse.”
