Sister Julia Walsh advocates for justice in Washington D.C.

Sister Julia Walsh attended the Franciscan Justice Leadership Conference, hosted by Franciscan Action Network in Washington D.C., from Oct. 12-15. Along with a group from Viterbo University, she advocated for an assault weapons ban (H.R. 698/S. 25) and a passage of a comprehensively faithful Farm Bill (H.R. 4897/S.2501). They visited Senator Tammy Baldwin and Senator Ron Johnson.

At the conference, Sister Julia presented on, "Community Building as a Franciscan Pathway to Peace." Reflecting on the experience, Sister Julia shared, "It's been a real joy to be with young adults at the Franciscan Action Network justice leadership conference and develop relationships with others in the Franciscan family during my time here."

Next stop: The Ignatian Solidarity Teach-In For Justice 2024, from Oct. 26-28 at the Washington Hilton, Washington, D.C. Sister Julia and Michael Krueger, FSPA Director of Affiliation and affiliate, will share about FSPA at the Ignatian Family Teach-In.
