Sister Sue Ernster, FSPA President and Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) President-elect, recently had the opportunity to visit Rome, Italy. During her visit, she fostered connections with the Tertiary Sisters of Saint Francis (TSSF). The TSSF shares, “Our Global Sisterhood continues to challenge us to enlarge the tents of our hearts. It offers us opportunities to mutually learn from one another, share common stories, embrace our vulnerabilities, and seek ways of navigating through life’s challenges with resilience and equanimity.”
During her visit, Sister Sue, on behalf of LCWR, presented the results of a survey on the 290 congregations to the Union of Superiors General, enhancing collaboration within the Universal Church.
The Tertiary Sisters of Saint Francis share, “Our Companionship in Franciscan Solidarity is an example of strengthening our Global Sisterhood because ‘we are shaping each other’s culture.’” She also says that she cherished her time with the TSSF, expressing profound gratitude for their relationship. She captured the joy of her experience with the TSSF by saying, “Pure Franciscan joy resides here.”
