Visual Art Experience: FSPA Iconography

FSPA is proud to present FSPA Iconography, the latest FSPA Visual Art Experience. Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Joan Weisenbeck describes icons as “windows to the Divine,” highlighting their power to deepen our awareness of God’s presence among us.
Byzantine iconography, an ancient form dating back over 1,500 years, reflects the liturgical traditions of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Its history includes periods of controversy, such as the Iconoclast Crisis, and the loss of sacred art during Communist rule in Eastern Europe. Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Marlene Weisenebeck shares more into the Story of the  Renaissance of Iconography Project, which helped bring this sacred art back to life from from 1998 to 2004.
Included in the FSPA Visual Art Experience are personal experiences and video interviews with Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration Deb Schwab, Celesta Day and Karen Kappell.
